The Factions

Five powers control what's left of humanity. Each governs territory, but more importantly, each governs ideology: how humanity should survive, what survival is worth, and who gets to decide. Faction affiliation shapes most of what a Splicer is permitted to be.

Faction 01 // Pandora Sector // Militarized Order

Survival above all.

Pandora Sector is the largest surviving human stronghold: a fortified megacity built on layered defenses, surveillance systems, and strict internal order. It serves as both military headquarters and civilian refuge, housing the majority of active Splicer units.

Governance is centralized and efficiency-driven. Every citizen has a role, every resource is monitored, and weakness isn't tolerated. Pandora prioritizes survival above all else, often making decisions that sacrifice smaller populations to preserve the whole.

Splicers within Pandora are treated as both assets and necessary risks: respected, feared, and closely regulated.

▸ Unit 01 // Elite Strike Team

An elite Splicer strike team assigned to high-risk operations beyond standard survivability thresholds. Members exhibit exceptionally high synchronization rates and are often deployed in critical breach zones or evolving Verdant territories. Casualty rates are extreme, success rates are higher.

Faction 02 // Aether Bioworks // Scientific Frontier

The infection is the answer.

Aether Bioworks operates at the forefront of fungal research and Splicer development. Their primary objective is to understand the Verdant strain well enough to control it, or even replicate it safely. They're responsible for advancements in Heartseed stabilization and Sync System refinement.

Their methods are controversial. Human testing, experimental procedures, and ethical violations aren't uncommon within their ranks.

To Aether, the infection isn't just a threat. It's the key to humanity's next evolution.

▸ Echo Division // Field Research

Specialized field researchers tasked with collecting live samples, behavioral data, and environmental readings from infected zones. They operate alongside Splicer units but aren't combat-focused. Their presence in the field is considered both essential and dangerous.

Faction 03 // Helix Syndicate // Corporate Control

Profit, power, product.

The Helix Syndicate is a powerful corporate entity that controls the production and distribution of Sync Systems. Operating across multiple sectors, they function as both supplier and manipulator, holding significant influence over Splicer deployment.

Profit and control drive their decisions. They're known to develop unauthorized system variants, some of which push beyond safe synchronization limits in exchange for increased power.

Rumors persist of hidden facilities where unstable Splicers and experimental systems are tested outside regulatory oversight.

▸ Blackwire Cell // Covert Operations

A covert operations unit responsible for retrieval missions, sabotage, and unauthorized field testing of experimental Sync Systems. Blackwire agents often operate without identification and are known to interfere with other factions when necessary. Officially, they don't exist.

Faction 04 // Rootbound Collective // Willing Integration

Evolution over resistance.

The Rootbound Collective rejects the idea that the Verdant strain is an enemy. They view it instead as a natural, or inevitable, step in evolution. Members willingly expose themselves to controlled infection, seeking to merge fully with the fungal network while retaining fragments of human identity.

Many undergo physical transformation, existing in unstable states between Splicer and Verdant. They're unpredictable, often appearing hostile but not always immediately aggressive. Communication with them is inconsistent at best.

To them, humanity isn't meant to survive unchanged.

▸ Bloom Ascendants // Near-Complete Integration

The most extreme faction within the Collective. Members have undergone near-complete integration with the Verdant strain, maintaining only fragments of human consciousness. They're both revered and feared, even among their own.

Faction 05 // Veil Ordinance // Zealotry & Purification

Purification through fire.

The Veil Ordinance is a militant religious order that interprets the Verdant Collapse as divine judgment. They believe the infection exists to purge weakness and cleanse the world. Their doctrine permits no compromise.

Verdants are to be destroyed. Splicers are tolerated only as tools, and only so long as they remain "pure." Those who show signs of corruption, instability, or excessive Surge are executed without hesitation.

Faith, discipline, and purification define their ranks.

▸ Purge Knights // Frontline Enforcers

Frontline enforcers of the Ordinance's doctrine. Equipped with heavy weaponry and reinforced systems, they specialize in eradication missions, burning infected zones and executing those deemed beyond redemption. Mercy isn't part of their function.


Playing inside the structure.

Faction affiliation is flexible. Characters can be loyalists, defectors, double agents, unaffiliated survivors, or former members of factions that no longer trust them. The conflict between ideologies is one of the main engines of this universe.
